Skill Up Abia, a project to train and empower 90 young people in Abia State is being organized by Clintonel Innovation Centre (CIC). The training programme will be held for three months from September 17th – December 17th, 2018 and the trainees will acquire skills in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and solar panel/inverter installation and maintenance.
The free training programme which will be delivered according to international standards is targeted to benefit unemployed young people in Abia State with 30 slots reserved for female applicants. Participants will be supported to secure employment or start up their own business upon completion.
Skill Up Abia is supported by PIND, a Non-Profit Organization with funding from Ford Foundation to help curb rising unemployment in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.
This project is one of several projects that have been commissioned in three states; Abia, Akwa Ibom and Rivers under the name of NDYEP – Niger Delta Youth Employability Pathways. The success of this pilot project will lead to a much bigger phase covering more states.
